METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE DIFFERENTIATION OF EMBRYONIC STEM CELLS

It is intended to provide a clinically applicable method of controlling the differentiation of stem cells such as embryonic stem cells. More specifically speaking, a method of controlling the differentiation of stem cells characterized by comprising culturing the stem cells in a culture medium in the presence of a meningeal cell-origin factor; cells obtained by this method of controlling differentiation; and an agent and a kit for carrying out the method. It is also intended to provide a method of screening a meningeal cell-origin factor having an activity of differentiating and inducing neural cells from stem cells with the use of the activity of differentiating and inducing neural cells from stem cells as an indication; and a meningeal cell-origin factor obtained by this screening method.
