Operation method for an optoelectronic contrast sensor for detecting color markings on a marking support in which at least three light emitters are operated with different spectral emissions so that they act on a read area causing light to be scattered from the marking and detected by light receivers. At least two light transmitters are operated simultaneously. An independent claim is made for an optoelectronic contrast sensor.
