A safety system for a carousel printing system, or a system for applying pile fibres, has the access to the equipment protected by safety frames linked to safety cut out switches. The effectiveness of the safety frames is enhanced by fitting the frames with a fabric mesh suitably impregnated to provide some rigidity. The mesh size and tear strength are selected for optimum safety and prevents unauthorised access, e.g. even prevents hands reaching into the equipment.
