A very high tower e.g. a radio or television mast has a fixed circular core resting on a large-diameter circular plinth. The tower has a free-moving tapered sleeve extending from the plinth base to near the top of the mast. The sleeve is a wind vane and presents a streamlined profile to the oncoming wind. The sleeve is a modular assembly with horizontal ribs. |
