A digital camera for portable equipment includes a light emitting device; an electrically-driven light quantity controller for controlling a quantity of light emitted from the light emitting device; and a system controller which drives the light quantity controller and the light emitting device and controls operations of the light quantity controller and the light emitting device. In a state where the light emitting device is ON, the system controller turns the light emitting device OFF when the system controller drives the light quantity controller to capture an object image.
