The method involves finding a temperature-dependent correction value as a function of an actual ambient temperature and a distance of a cantilever from a wire of an overhead line. An adjusting device (5) is set on the wire and adjusted to a given point of reference so that a neutral position of the cantilever is found. The adjusting device includes an adjusting unit (7) e.g. laser pointer, in its center section. An independent claim is also included for a device for temperature-dependent adjustment of a cantilever position of an overload line.
