An information providing system includes a database containing advertisement information correlated to the advertisement bit price. In response to a search request from a terminal, corresponding advertisement information is selected from the database. According to the bid price of the advertisement information, the advertisement posting sequence is determined. The advertisement posting sequence is decided according to the probability calculated from the ratio occupied by the bit price of the advertisement to be displayed against the total price of the bid prices of the advertisements to be displayed. Thus, the display sequence is not uniquely decided by the bit price.
