There are provided an information processing device and method capable of performing efficient content transmission processing. When a stored content is transmitted from an information processing device performing content storage and management to an external device, a check-out log including a content ID is acquired as content information which has been transmitted to the external device. A music composition which has not been transmitted is selected by comparing the content ID of the check-out log to the content ID of the content stored in the information processing device acquired from the music composition management information storage unit of the information processing device. The music composition thus selected is transmitted to an external device. This configuration eliminates the need of check of the content which has been transmitted and selection processing by the user, thereby realizing the effective content transmission.
