A heat exchange type ventilator capable of preventing a heat exchanger from being clogged due to icing and reducing cold draft feeling. The heat exchange type ventilator comprises a body having a connection part for gas exhaust and a connection part for air supply and a gas exhaust port and an air supply port, an electric motor driving a fan for gas exhaust and a fan for air supply, the heat exchanger exchanging heat between an inside air and an outside air, and a shielding damper shielding the flow of air supply in an air supply route. The shielding damper is operated based on signals from an air supply temperature detection means detecting the temperature of the outside air to cut out the flow of air supply and reduce an exhaust gas volume.
