A dermatological apparatus includes multiple light source (702A, 702B, 702C, 702D, 702E) and optical pathway connections (708A, 708B, 708C, 708D, 708E). Each light source is capable of delivering an optical beam through its connected optical pathway to a targeted portion of a human skin (710). The dermatological apparatus also includes a control system to select and control the light sources to deliver multiple optical beams in a discontinuous pattern and a focusing element (706) to focus the power of the delivered optical beams to multiple discrete treatment zones (712A, 712B, 712C, 712D, 712E) that are located up to 1.5 mm underneath an outer surface (714) of the targeted portion. The discrete treatment zones have sizes in the range of 10 µm to 1000 µm. |
