A process for producing 2,2,3,3-tetrafluorooxetane which comprises reacting tetrafluoroethylene with a formaldehyde source compound in anhydrous hydrogen fluoride, wherein the reaction is conducted in the presence of a polyfluoroalkylcarboxylic acid represented by the general formula RfCOORf' (wherein Rf is C1-5 polyfluoroalkyl and Rf' is hydrogen or C1-5 polyfluoroalkyl) or a polyfluoroalkyl ester thereof, preferably CF3COOH, CF3COOCH2CF2CF3, or CF3COOCH2CF3. Thus, the yield of the target compound can be heightened.
