Apparatus for making waterproof covering materials composed of alternative layers of bitumen or tar and synthetic resin sheeting, comprises an endless belt 10 having a continuous movement and supported by rollers with upper rollers 22 for applying the synthetic resin sheeting 23 on the endless belt and means for feeding the synthetic resin sheeting to the upper rollers, wherein with each upper roller is associated a lower supporting roller 16 displaced with respect to the upper roller so that between the said rollers the belt has a downwardly inclined zone in which the bitumen or tar is admitted. The displacement between the upper and lower rollers may be adjustable and a shaft 48 on which are provided discs 49 may be present in the displacement zone of the rollers and driven in synchronism with roller 22 to facilitate spreading of the bitumen or tar.
