The fluid operated power cylinder (1) has a sensor housing (34) for the fixing of a position sensor (35) serving for the end position detection of the piston. The sensor housing is installed on the outer circumference of a cover extension (32) so that it is passed under by the piston submerging into the cover extension. The sensor housing on its front side terminates flush with the axially orientated end face (43) of the cover extension. The sensor housing extends over the whole length of the cover extension.
