The procedure for sealing bags made of thermoplastic material and provided with side folds, entails drawing up tight the open side of the bag and sealing it with a cross weld seam. Before filling and with the bag still lying flat, the side sections (3) of the cross weld seam covering the side folds are formed in a first welding stage as far as the transition section into the double-layered center section (5). The center section of the cross weld seam is carried out by a second welding stage after filling of the bag. The first welding stage may be a thermal welding process while the second may be an ultrasonic welding process. |
