A method for producing a ferrite material which mainly contains 62-68 mol% of Fe2O3, 12- 20 mol% of ZnO and the balance substantially composed of MnO is disclosed. The method comprises a forming step wherein a green body is formed using a powder containing the major components and having a specific surface area of 2.5-5.0 m2/g and a 90% particle size of 10 mum or less, and a firing step wherein the green body obtained in the forming step is fired. With this method, the saturation flux density of Mn-Zn ferrite can be improved.
