<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit an energy cost from increasing by shortening a period of time for a reducing step without increasing the maximum flow of an oxygen-containing gas such as a conventional reducing agent and air, and by surely and stably controlling a molten metal temperature when the reducing step has been finished, to the target lowest tapping temperature or higher. <P>SOLUTION: The method for operating the copper-refining furnace so as to shorten the operating period of time comprises blowing air into a molten metal at an air ratio of 0.07 to 0.15 with respect to a reducing gas, in an initial stage (within a half period of the total reduction period) of the reducing step, to forcefully stir the molten metal and promote a reaction between the reducing gas and oxygen; and then decreasing the air ratio by 0.03 to 0.05 in comparison with that in the initial stage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
