<p>A honeycomb structure body used for a filter, capable of carrying a large amount of catalysts and of constraining the increase in pressure loss when the structure body collects particulates, having high particulate collecting capability, and capable of being effectively recovered and of purifying poisonous gases. The honeycomb structure body is a pillar-like honeycomb structure mainly made from inorganic fibers and having a large number of through-holes arranged in the length direction with wall portions in between. Among the inorganic fibers forming the honeycomb structure body, more fibers are oriented along a plane perpendicular to the forming direction of the through-holes than along a plane parallel to the forming direction of the through-holes.</p> |
