The invention relates to a process and an installation for preparing 1,2-dichloroethane, employed in the chemical industry. According to the invention, the process for preparing 1,2-dichloroethane by reacting ethylene and chlorine in recycled 1,2-dichloroethane, while vigorously stirring and with heat recovery, consists in reacting ethylene and chlorine at a temperature of 65...125 C and an absolute pressure of 0.5...3.2 bars, the temperature and pressure being selected so that the reaction mixture boils and the reaction heat is recovered from the vapour area and fed to at least one heat exchanger. The installation for carrying out the process comprises a reactor, a mixing device, a limit for the liquid 1,2-dichloroethane, a pipe for the liquid 1,2-dichloroethane, a pump, a supply pipe for the chlorine and the ethylene, respectively, a discharge pipe for the gaseous reaction mixture, a pipe leading to a heat exchanger, a reflux pipe from the heat exchanger to the reactor, a pipe leading to the distillation column and pipes from and to, respectively, a heat consummer. |
