The invention concerns a method for reducing creep in a gypsum plaster- based element, such as a gypsum plaster board. Said method comprises introducing into the gypsum plaster-based composition, prior to setting and curing thereof, a tartaric acid of one of the salts of tartaric acid, in an amount more than 0.001 wt. % relative to the gypsum plaster-based composition hemihydrate calcium sulphate content. The invention also concerns a gypsum plaster-based composition for such an element. Said composition comprises, in weight percentages relative to the composition hemihydrate calcium sulphate content: 0.003 % to 0.45 % of tartaric acid or one of the salts thereof and 0.05 % to 0.95 % of boric acid or one of the salts thereof. Finally, the invention further concerns a gypsum plaster-based element with reduced creep, obtained by hydraulic setting and curing of the inventive composition, the use of tartaric acid or one of the salts thereof for reducing creep in a gypsum plaster-based element as well as a method for making a gypsum plaster-based element with reduced creep.
