<p>A self-biased voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) (10) that includes a VCO core (12) including a plurality of switching transistors (18, 20, 22, 24), a resonant tank circuit (14) operatively coupled to the VCO core (12), a current source (16) operatively coupled to the VCO core (12) for supplying a bias current to the VCO core (12), and a biasing circuit (38) operatively coupled to both the resonant tank circuit and to the current source (16). The biasing circuit (38) and the switching transistors (18, 20, 22, 24) of the VCO core (12) cooperatively function to bias the current source (16), whereby the VCO (10) is self-biased.</p> |
