A moving object can be traced by a smaller number of time-series images temporarily stored. For continuous N images (N >= 2) in the time-series images, (a) an identical identification code is assigned to adjacent blocks having a vector difference absolute value within a predetermined value, so that different identification codes are assigned to moving objects overlapped on an image, (b) in each of the N images, a first object as a block group to which a first identification code is assigned is brought into contact with a second object as a block group to which a second identification code is assigned and judgment is made whether the correlation degree between the first objects of temporally adjacent images of the N images is equal to or above a predetermined value, and (c) after positive response is obtained in step (b), the first object and the second object are traced by going back the time. |
