A disposable wearing article (1) formed so as to be elastically stretchable has front and rear girth regions (6, 7) and a below-the-crotch region (8), and is formed with a first elastic region (21), a second elastic region (22), and a third elastic region (23), with their stretch stresses gradually decreasing in the order mentioned. The wearing article (1) is formed through the steps of continuously feeding an elastically stretchable web in the machine direction, forming a group of slits of required shape so as to be symmetrical with respect to the widthwise central region of the web, and bending the web in the cross direction orthogonal to the machine direction so that its areas alternately overlap with the central region lying therebetween. |
