A data processing device for scrambling transmission data. The device includes: cyclic code generation means for generating a bit data string cyclic with a predetermined cycle; EXOR calculation means for successively EXOR-calculating the cyclic bit data string on the transmission data and outputting scrambled data; data generation means for generating bit data of a predetermined pattern; and selector means for receiving the scrambled data and the bit data of the predetermined pattern generated by the data generation means and selecting the bit data of the predetermined pattern when performing synchronization of the transmission data and the scrambled data when not performing synchronization of the transmission data so that they are output as scrambler output data.
