There are provided puncture rate determining means for determining the puncture rate of received data; interpolation means for interpolating the bits thinned out by the determined puncture rate; de-interleaving means for rearranging interleaved data back to the original arrangement; and turbo decoding means for receiving the data of a slide window and the data of a learning interval following the data of the slide window to decode the data of the slide window by use of a recursive calculation, while variably setting the length of the learning interval in accordance with the puncture rate determined by the puncture rate determining means for the data as processed by the interpolation and de-interleaving means; whereby the effective received signal included in the learning interval can be maintained generally constant even when the puncture rate varies.
