A method for manufacturing sheets of plasterboard and a device for implementing it are disclosed. A plasterboard sheet is formed and set by hydration until a hydration value of less than 80% is reached. The sheet is delivered by rollers 8a-8c to a barrel 9 revolving around an axis 10. The barrel 9 has multiple branches 10a-10e, and each branch has several arms 11a-11d to support the sheet without sagging. The hydration process continues as the barrel rotates, drying the sheets. The use of the rotating barrel 9 means that the production rate of plasterboard can be increased without increasing the length of the production line, as would be the case if the setting process took place entirely on a known forming line.
