A key backlight control method and circuit can be provided by illuminating only the keys to be operated with the power consumption for a key arrangement unit reduced. The key arrangement unit is configured by a plurality of keys and LEDs for respectively illuminating the keys. The LEDs are controlled by a LED control unit, FETs, a scan register unit, and a CPU unit such that only the LEDs corresponding to the keys required (or requested) in the processing mode (browsing mail, etc.) can be turned on in the mobile terminal equipment such as a mobile phone unit. |
