A smoking material comprising a non-combustible inorganic filler, a binder and aerosol generating means, the non-combustible filler comprising a proportion of material having a mean particle size in the range of 500 to 20 micrometers, the non-combustible inorganic filler being present in the range of 75-90% by weight of the smoking material, and the binder comprising an alginic binder present in the amount of at least 50% of the total amount of binder.
