A modified Neisseiria meningitides strain characterised in that the strain is obtained by the following process: d) a process of detoxifying the lipid A portion of LPS within the strain comprising the steps of identifying an msbB gene involved in rendering the lipid A portion of LPS toxic, and engineering the strain so as to reduce or switch off expression of said gene; and h) a process of engineering the strain such that it is free of capsular polysaccharide.
