<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain stable response and output characteristics by sufficiently supplying an exhaust gas to the sensor detecting surface of a gas sensor without being affected by an external environment where the gas sensor is placed. <P>SOLUTION: A detection element 10 is covered with a protective cover having a double pipe structure composed of an inside cover 20 and an outside cover 40. The gap formed between the side surface 26 of the inside cover and the side surface 42 of the outside cover is made wider in the turning direction of the sensor detecting surface 12 than another direction and the exhaust gas introduced into the outside cover is supplied to the sensor detecting surface 12 from a venting hole 30 through the widened gap. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
