<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which dust caused by abnormal discharge in a fixing part is prevented by applying a bias to the fixing part under simple control (without newly adding a means for obtaining information about the resistance value of transfer paper) and image defects are decreased by decreasing currents flowing into/from the fixing part, which occurs in moisture-adjusted paper which reduces margin as a side effect due to the application of the bias to the fixing part. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a fixing unit 7 which can perform both-sided printing and fixes a toner image on transfer paper by heating and pressurizing it; a bias application means 7c which applies a bias to at least the heating member 7b or pressurizing member 7d of the fixing unit 7; and a control means 7c1 capable of switching bias application set values. A fixing bias V1 and a fixing bias V2 are applied in performing printing of a first side and in performing printing of a second side, respectively, so that ¾V1¾<¾V2¾ is satisfied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
