PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avert the adverse influence of a lateral electric field and crosstalk. SOLUTION: A scanning drive means 104 selects scanning lines of (n) ((n) is 2 or more integer) lines parted from each other in one horizontal period of input images corresponding to the number of pixels of a TFT drive type liquid crystal display element, sequentially supplies gate pulses thereto, and shifts the (n) lines selected in the next one horizontal period by respectively one line each. A data drive means 201 converts a blanking signal included in the input image to a pseudo blanking signal of a prescribed half tone level, and synthesizes the input image including the pseudo blanking signal and the delay signal. An image rearray means obtains the write image by arraying the synthesized image of a horizontal frequency n-times the horizontal frequency of the input image by the signal array meeting the scanning of the scanning drive means. The image signal of the write image from the image rearray means is inputted to the data drive means which inverts the polarity by each horizontal write period of 1/n-times the horizontal period of the input image and supplies the same to a plurality of the source lines, respectively.
