PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constant velocity universal joint capable of securing a necessary and sufficient clearance disposed between a valley part of a boot and an outside diameter surface of an outer member so as to prevent contact between them even if an operating angle is large and a boot shape is compact. SOLUTION: The outside diameter surface of an outer member 1 to which a valley part 20a of a boot on the inside of the boot 20 comes closest with a shaft 5 taking the maximum operating angle, is a first taper surface 21 having the diameter reduced toward the opening side of the outer member 1.
