PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of reducing the abolition period which permits reduction of the total amount of an injected oxidizing agent by reducing the abolition period of an ultimate-disposal dumping site from closing to abolition. SOLUTION: The method comprises blowing air into the waste layer to promote degradation of organic matter easy for microorganisms to degrade and injecting an oxidizing agent in parts into the layer until BOD and COD reach the abolition standard A. Plural specified BOD values b1 to b3, serving as parameters for injection of an oxidizing agent, are set below COD so that the values decrease gradually in a multi-stage manner, and the agent is injected every time when BOD passes a peak of P1, P2 or P3, decreases below COD and reaches a specified value b1, b2 or b3, respectively, in order to decompose slightly degradable organic matter remaining in the waste layer into easily degradable organic matter.
