PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carpet with high water absorptivity and high continuous usability. SOLUTION: A cut pile (pile fabric) is formed by bringing a thread consisting of highly water absorptive fiber or nonwoven fabric into contact with a thread consisting of highly elastic fiber or nonwoven fabric. The length of the cut pile is defined so that the highly water absorptive thread is made longer than the highly elastic thread in length from a base cloth surface to the top end.
