The invention consists of a composite system of fasteners of various forms and materials used in optimum and cost effective combination. The invention facilitates the use of bamboo and wood from short rotation forestry by availing of high strength and low deformability of superior wood bamboo laminates, fiber reinforced plastics and corrosion resistant metals used in critical zones. Various forms of fasteners e.g. circular, rectangular wedges (5, 1), diamond shaped inserts (6, 7, 8, 2), split sleeve (3) etc. are used in the invention with stress lamination devices, bands and tension bolts to improve bearing strength and resistance to indentation, splitting/brooming. Consequently, high capacity, low deformation under long loading, reduced creep and ability to withstand stress repetition and reversal is achieved. Pre-compression and reaming of holes, introduction of high strength inserts, carried out in the shop, results in simplifying the on-site assembly thereby eliminating the need for special, high capacity equipment. |
