The long forks (10) used for holding a piece of meat or vegetable (13) while being fried in the fondue pot (11) often get entangled with one another and the meat or vegetable (13) gets lost in the oil (21). The holding device (12) is assembled of a first clip (14) to be attached to the rim of the pot (11) or the inner edge of a lid (17) and a second clip (15) to be joined to the shaft of the fork (10). The second clip (15) has a clamping area (15a, 18) with curved recesses for the accommodation of the shaft and is provided with a spring for a firm grip.
