<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant resin composition containing a linear ethylene-α-olefine copolymer polymerized in the presence of a single site catalyst and an inorganic flame-retardant and in particular, a high-strength flame-retardant resin composition having enhanced strength and improved mechanical properties and an electric wire/cable having a coating layer comprising such composition. <P>SOLUTION: The high-strength flame-retardant resin composition of the present invention containing a linear ethylene-α-olefine copolymer polymerized using a single site catalyst and an inorganic flame-retardant, wherein the above linear ethylene-α-olefine copolymer is an ethylene-hexene-1 copolymer produced at a melt mass-flow rate of between 0.5 and 10 g/10 min and a density of between 0.86 and 0.95 g/cm<SP>3</SP>.
