PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ventilator capable of dispensing with the switching of ventilating operation by manual operation after cooking is terminated, and allowing a discharging device to automatically start its ventilating operation at all times in interlocking with the termination of cooking. SOLUTION: This ventilator comprises the discharging device 5 having an air blower 4 and operated in interlocking with a cooking appliance 1 used in cooking, a ventilating operation determining means 7 for determining the ventilating operation of the discharging device 5 on the basis of a signal transmitted to the discharging device 5 from the cooking appliance 1 and received by a receiving part 6 mounted to receive an operation signal and a stop signal, and a control part 8 for controlling the operation of the air blower 4 on the basis of the determination. When the received signal is the stop signal of the operation of the cooking appliance 1, the ventilating operation determining means 7 determines that the operation of the discharging device 5 is a regular ventilating operation of low air volume, and the regular ventilating operation is started.
