PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously detect a plurality of electric wave arrival directions, with high detection accuracy. SOLUTION: When the set of the reactance value of different variable reactance elements 12-1 to 12-6 is set, each receiving signal y(t) received according to an array antenna device 100 is detected, a correlation matrix Rh<SB>zz</SB>, based on each reception signal is calculated, the calculated correlation matrix Rh<SB>zz</SB>is subjected to characteristics value decomposition, to calculate the characteristic valueα<SB>m</SB>of the correlation matrix Rh<SB>zz</SB>, a correlation matrix Rh<SB>nn</SB>based on noise is calculated, on the basis of the calculated characteristic valueα<SB>m</SB>; a correlation matrix Rh<SB>yy</SB>based on a transmitted radio signal is calculated, based on the two calculated correlation matrices Rh<SB>zz</SB>and Rh<SB>nn</SB>; the calculated correlation matrix Rh<SB>yy</SB>is subjected to characteristic value decomposition to calculate a characteristic vector w<SB>k</SB>, and the arrival azimuth angle of the reception signal received, using ESPRIT method, based on the calculated characteristic vector w<SB>k</SB>and selective matrices J<SB>1</SB>, J<SB>2</SB>in the ESPRIT method, corresponding to the first and second sub arrays.
