<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus maintaining a high image quality by suppressing deterioration of image quality due to deterioration of developer and especially suppressing a melt sticking stripe occurring by melt sticking of the deteriorated developer to a restricting member. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 is provided with a developer carrier 23, the restricting member 25 installed to abut on the developer carrier 23, and a developing means 4 which rotates the developer carrier 23, forms the thin layer of developer on the developer carrier 23 by restricting the developer on the developer carrier 23 with the restricting member 25 and supplies the developer to an image carrier 1 abutted on the developer carrier 23 or installed in the vicinity of the developer carrier 23. The apparatus is constituted so that developer quantity in the developer thin layer formed on the developer carrier 23 is reduced at a specified timing at a time other than image formation operation and a restricting member recovery operation rotating the developer carrier 25 for a specified time in that state is executed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
