AEROSTATIC LINEAR GUIDE FOR A CARRIAGE DRIVEN BY A LINEAR MOTOR

Disclosed is an aerostatic linear guide for a carriage (7, 13) driven by a linear electric motor. Said linear guide is formed by parallel planar guide rails (5, 6, 7) and bearing bases (9, 10, 11), both of which are alternatingly disposed on a support (1, 12) or on the carriage (7, 13). The bearing bases (9, 10, 11) rest upon the guide rails and absorb the magnetic force of attraction (P) of the linear motor. A first guide rail (4) runs along one longitudinal side of the linear motor while a second and third guide rail (5 and 6) extend closely adjacent on the opposite longitudinal side of the linear motor and are inclined in a roof-shaped manner at an angle to the direction of the force of attraction (P). A center plane (M) between the second and third guide rail (4 and 7) extends approximately in the direction of the force of attraction (P) while the first guide rail (4) runs quasi perpendicular to said center plane (M), whereby a great degree of guiding stability is obtained such that the forces and moments acting perpendicular to the force of attraction (P) of the linear motor are securely absorbed.
