Seal checking method for checking packaging, especially pouches or bags (10) is carried out using a packaging conveyer (14) on the transporting leg (17) of which the pouches are positioned at intervals to each other. Covering cowls (18, 19) are lowered over the pouches to form a temporary air-tight test chamber. Air is sucked out from the chambers from suction areas (22) below the conveyer belt. If the pouches are not sealed, they deform due to the suction. An independent claim is made for a device for checking the sealing of packaging pouches.
