<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of obtaining a high definition color image by maintaining the linearity of reproduced density to an image signal even when the triboelectrification of the toner is changed due to a long neglect. <P>SOLUTION: Regarding the image forming apparatus provided with an image carrier, an electrifying means, a latent image forming means and a plurality of developing means, and wherein light color toner is packed in at least one of the plurality of developing means, and dark color toner is packed in at least one of the remaining developing means, and the light color toner and the dark color toner are mixed in accordance with an image level, the apparatus is provided with a 1st mode of performing image formation by using all the developing means, and a 2nd mode of performing image formation by using some of the plurality of the developing means, and a toner electrification determining means, and a condition of developing with the light color toner is made variable based on the detection result by the toner electrification determining means with reference to the developing means which is not operated at the 2nd mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
