PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rail displacement optical detector which is easy to clean and a hood provided thereon does not tend to fall off when cleaning a light transmission window during routine inspections or the like to prevent the detection accuracy of the detector detecting rail displacement from deteriorating. SOLUTION: The present invention in which a floodlight optical system irradiating light to a rail and light receive optical system receiving the light reflected by the rail are built, comprises a detector body which has a light projecting window transmitting the light and a light receiving window transmitting the reflected light, and whose inside is hermetically sealed, and a hood which is provided on the detector body and has a slit on the front thereof to transmit the light and the reflected light, and whose inside is hermetically sealed exclusive of the slit. The shape of the side of the hood adjacent to the plane of the light projecting window and the light receiving window which become the outside when mounting the detector to a track inspection car, is a rectangle, and an openable and closable window having a larger opening then the slit is provided on the side.
