摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detecting method of the tip of a rod body precisely detecting the tip of a drill edge using an output from a line sensor provided perpendicularly to the axial direction of the drill edge. SOLUTION: The line sensor and a light source projecting monochrome and parallel lights to the line sensor are provided, the axial direction is made approximately perpendicular to the disposition direction of light receiving cells of the line sensor and, from the axial direction, the tip of the rod body such as the drill edge or the like entering in the optical path of the monochrome and parallel lights is found from the output of the line sensor. After the output of the line sensor, when the rod body is positioned in the optical path of the monochrome and parallel lights, is analyzed to find the axial center of the rod body, the rod body is advanced/retreated in the axial direction and, when the output of the line sensor in the axial position reaches a peak, the advance/retreat position of the rod body is detected as a state where the tip of the rod body is positioned in the optical path.
