An Urushi lacquer, characterized in that it comprises a raw natural Urushi or a purified Urishi and metal colloidal particles; and an article coated with the above Urushi lacquer. As a metal colloidal particle, a noble metal colloidal particle is preferably used. The above Urushi lacquer allows the impartment of excellent gloss to an Urushi coating film, the enhancement of drying property, the improvement of the resistance to light, and further can provide a high class coated article, such as a Hakudan-coated article or a Tamamushi-coated article which is friendly to the environment. The above Urushi lacquer allows a high class coating utilizing a color of a noble metal colloid and also provide a natural coating which is friendly to the environment and ecological.
