It is intended to conduct disposal of wastes, such as sulfate pitch, at minimized cost and to minimize adverse effects on work force, disposal facilities and environment. Accordingly, there is provided a millimetric-wave irradiation head comprising a tube or rod of heat resistant glass such as quartz glass and, disposed at its one end, a millimetric-wave irradiation part capable of millimetric-wave irradiation toward the heat resistant glass. The portion of heat resistant glass of this millimetric-wave irradiation head is inserted in a waste vessel, and the waste is irradiated with millimetric-wave and thus heated.
