<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side airbag device capable of effectively controlling deployment and inflation of an airbag. <P>SOLUTION: The side airbag device 24 comprises an inflater 26 for jetting gas from a gas jet port and the airbag 27 that is deployed and inflated between a body side section of a vehicle and an occupant by jetted gas. The airbag 27 has an upper partition chamber 34 and a lower partition chamber 35. The airbag has a front communication passage 36 and a rear communication passage 37 for communicating respective partition chambers 34 and 35, and the jetted gas circulates from the lower partition chamber 35 to the upper partition chamber 34. An inner tube 28 is disposed in the airbag 27. The gas jet port of the inflater 26 is inserted into the inside of the inner tube 28. An upper end opening 38 of the inner tube 28 is disposed in the upper partition chamber 34, and the lower end opening 39 is disposed in the lower partition chamber 35. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
