PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device and its manufacturing method, having improved reliability and display quality by suppressing the occurrence of discharge. SOLUTION: The image display device comprises an envelope which has a first substrate and a second substrate facing arranged on the first substrate with a given gap between them, and a plurality of pixels provided in the envelope. A plurality of spacers 30a, 30b for supporting atmospheric pressure load, acting on the first and second substrates, are arranged between the first and second substrates in the envelope.
