PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve visual contrast in various video signals. SOLUTION: The chromaticity of a light source is changed according to the information on RGB luminance in the video signals obtainable from an RGB luminance detection circuit and the RGB ratios of the video signals are changed in correspondence thereto in the liquid crystal display device with which the chromaticity of a display screen can be changed by changing the chromaticity of the light source. In the liquid crystal display device capable of changing the color temperature of the display screen by changing the color temperature of the light source, the color temperature of the light source is changed according to the characteristic quantity of the RGB luminance in the video signals obtainable from the RGB luminance detection circuit and the RGB ratios of the video signals are changed in correspondence thereto.
